Municipal registration

Foreigners wishing to stay in the Netherlands for more than three months must report to the municipal register. They must produce the following documents:

A copy of the birth certificate
A valid passport
A marriage certificate
A divorce act (if applicable)
Proof of registration with the aliens police
Proof of a place of residence

Sofi-number
Those wishing to work in the Netherlands full-time or via a temp agency need a Social Fiscal number, or sofi-number. Without it, the employer cannot, for example pay salary. To obtain a sofi-number, you must register with the municipal population register.
